Born and raised in Seoul, South Korea, Youngkeun Suh naturally gravitated to art since her early childhood. As a child, she fed her artistic passion by making paper dolls, designing their outfits, and drawing casual portraits of celebrities. Her artistic talent was quickly recognized by her family and close relatives. During her youth, she was mentored by professional artists who helped refine her repertoire of drawing, painting, and sculpting skills. After that, she went to Ewha University and earned a bachelor’s degree in Fine Art. She also obtained her master’s degree in Communication Aesthetics of Education from Korea International Culture University Graduate in Seoul.
Youngkeun is a professional artist who has devoted over a decade to teaching students her techniques, knowledge, and philosophy of art. Her art has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Grand Prize at the International Women’s Art Festival in Korea and an Honorable Mention from the Hawaiian Watercolor Society. Her expertise in fine art has led to her appointment as a judge for juried art exhibitions in Seoul.
Youngkeun’s passion for art is evident in her work, which often features flowers, portraits, and figures, expressing joy, love, harmony, and gratitude for life. Her watercolor and pastel mediums add splendor and grace to her pieces. As an artist, she feels blessed to have the freedom to depict the beauty of the world.
